ABOUT SUE
Sue Blackmon, MJE has advised publications and taught journalism for 44 years. She retired from public school in June 2021 and began teaching part time at Incarnate Word Academy in August 2021. Her student’s publications consistently win high marks and the yearbook has been featured in Balfour Publishing Company’s YearbookYearbook numerous times. The Klein Forest 2010 book was named a Best of 2010 by Balfour. Blackmon judges publications for NSPA, CSPA, ILPC, and several state organizations. She has also been a contest moderator and judge for write-off competitions at JEA/NSPA and TAJE. She was one of eight teachers chosen as a Radio and Television News Directors Foundation Teacher Ambassador. Blackmon received the Edith Fox King Award from ILPC and was named Sam Houston State University’s 2006 Secondary Teacher of the Year. She was was Klein Forest High School Teacher of the Year and Klein ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2012. Blackmon also loves cruising, turtles and the Astros!
