Using dry mount film in book binding, part II.
In a previous video, titled "Dry mount film in book binding" I gave a demonstration how Fusion 4000 dry mounting film can be used to attach two long pieces of paper to make an accordion fold book.
In this second video, I show how I attached printed sheets of paper into the accordion book. Fusion 4000 offers an acid free method of attaching paper to cover stock or thicker board. One advantage is that it can be removed by applying heat. Book binders frequently use wet adhesives, glue sticks and archival transfer tape, to bond paper into books. Dry mount tissue or film, is another method. It is easy to use and it is long lasting.
In this demonstration, handmade sheets made from abaca fiber are attached to Gmund Bier paper cover stock. This book of poems is titled "Burning My Name" and was written by Todd Moore. The edition is approximately 40 copies. The text and book cover image were printed on a Vandercook SP 15 letterpress printing press. The title page image is a digital collage and was printed on Japanese paper using an ink jet printer. Jim Escalante printed this book under the press name Iguana Press.
