🎉 We’ve officially wrapped up Week 5, and the SSP Rocket Launch Competition has successfully completed its 27th mission! This year, with a larger launch site, participants created bigger rockets and aimed for higher flight altitudes. ✨
The rocket launch competition is a beloved tradition at ISU-SSP, beginning 27 years ago in Houston. This year, John Connolly guided participants back to Houston, where six brand new SSP rockets took to the skies.
What’s surprising is that most participants had no prior rocket-building experience, completing the entire journey from learning to launching in just three workshops and a total of one day of actual building. The competition evaluated both flight altitude and the rockets' payloads. Each team selected a treasured item as their payload, along with Texas-style hot sauce and the classic payload of eggs, all set for a successful launch and safe landing. Team 4, Spicy Rocket, achieved the highest altitude at 217 meters, while Team 1, Spicy Thunderstorm, claimed the overall victory.
📣 Houston, SSP is ready for launch! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
