Solved: File is too large for destination file system | Hindi
When you try to copying a file larger than 4GB to your pen drive or external hard disk and windows shows the error. “The file is too large for the destination file system” but you have enough space in your pen drive or external hard disk to store that file.
The reason behind it that Your flash drive, external disk formated with FAT32 (File Allocation Table 32bit) file system. But in the FAT32 file system, you can not copy a larger file than 4 GB. That’s why when you try to copy a file larger than 4 GB then this error appears.
You can verify the file system one of the properties of your flash drive and you will find the file system is FAT32.
In FAT16 file system file larger than 2GB can’t not be transferred and in FAT32 the maximum limit is increased to 4GB.
There is two way to change the file system of your drive to resolve this issue. The file is too large for the destination file system.
Option 1: Format your usb disk, flash drive or external disk with NTFS partition, but in case your existing data in disk will be lost. If you wants that data. Go for option 2 only.
Option 2: Convert your file system from FAT32 to NTFS without data loss.
Please follow these steps to convert the file system.
1. go to command prompt with administrative previliges.
2. Run below dos command on command windows
convert g:(where is g: drive is your external disk or flash drive) /fs:ntfs.
3. It will take 20 sec to 2 min maximum, depend on your computer speed and disk size.
4. Then verify the NTFS partition and now you can copy more than 4GB large files to the disk.
