This is "DETOUR 0", a very short solo improv. The continiously ungoing search for new approaches, sounds, harmonies, metrums, (in)dependence (of instruments, melodies, chords, rhythms etc), ways of making music etc is what makes music so very very interesting. For a few months now I am experimenting with (what Frank Zappa called) "xenochromy", i.e. the principle to combine independently of each other recorded parts in one whole. I have done that before in the past with really totally independent parts of several diferent periods in time.
This 2 minute thing, "Detour", exists one could say not entirely out of completely independent parts, because I played them all on the same day (my birthday last sunday) with 1 idea in mind about the 'texture' I wanted. So there is a kind-of-a-relation between the 3 elements (drums, bass, guitar). I recorded 3 short versions of "Detour" sunday, all with that same idea about texture so they are more or less the same and at the same time very different. If you like me like alternative kinds of ways to organise sound (my definition of music = organised sound), maybe you can appreciate this little modest short thing of mine. And the kind of texture is gives.
