In the continuing chaos, we look at the United Methodist Church in Nigeria officially leaving the denomination. This departure follows controversial changes at the 2024 General Conference, which redefined the church's stance on marriage and sexual behavior. The 600,000 or so members of the region make up a significant portion of African membership, and continues the seismic shift within United Methodism, potentially setting a precedent for other conservative regions in Africa.
