"Damaged Goods" is the sixth chapter in A Plague Tale: Innocence. It utilizes making choices to successfully distract enemies, as well as open combat against oncoming hostiles.
While crossing the ruins of a battlefield, Amicia, Hugo, and Lucas met two young raiders, who used the orphans as a distraction to escape from English soldiers. Only Lucas managed to get away, while Amicia and Hugo were captured by the invading army.
Daylight breaks over the English camp. Amicia awakes, locked in a cage, with a commander of the English Army kicking a bowl of food between the bars. Normally, those judged to be corpse robbers are killed on sight, but the officer had recognized the de Rune coat of arms on the children's pendants, realizing they were nobles and therefore profitable. Thus, he decided to instead capture the children and ransom them but does not mention to whom before he leaves. Then, to Amicia's surprise, the thieves from the previous night sneak up to the cage and release her. The boy then climbs a nearby trebuchet to scale the wall of the English camp. The girl introduces herself as Mélie and her brother as Arthur.
Amicia's sling and ammunition were taken when she was captured, leaving her and the thieves no choice but to sneak past the numerous soldiers. At points where there is no way past, Amicia must choose the best possible distraction for Arthur to enact from his elevated position, forcing the soldiers to move and allow the girls to pass. Overhearing the guards, not only do they learn that the English have suffered casualties in the thousands, but the plague rat threat is spreading throughout the country, devastating villages and endangering the army's efforts at taking France. Not only must Amicia avoid making undue noise, but in some areas, if she steps wrong she can knock over a bottle or jostle a sleeping soldier, drawing their attention. While hiding in tall grass, Amicia is shocked to see two chatty archers practicing on the corpse of a French soldier, joking about killing French knights in the previous battle. By the time the girls finally find Hugo's cage, being jeered at by soldiers, Amicia's escape was discovered and the English begin to search. Mélie showcases her talent for lock-picking by opening a box containing Amicia's sling, using it to free Hugo so Mélie can then open the cage. Hugo embraces his sister, and Amicia promises to always be with him.
