The epic sci-fi novel and movie are now in an area control board game! Play as either the Atriedes or Harkonnen in Frank Herbert’s classic tale on the desert surface. This tabletop game is derived from the Lord of the Rings War of the Ring, with a similar leader and action die system. But is this asymmetric war game a worthy successor, almost 20 years later? Are the streamlining of the combat system with easier dice rolling to lead to a shorter game time worth the sacrifices? How does this also compare to Star Wars Rebellion, another thematic epic 1v1 game that has a similar cat and mouse Guerrilla fremen warfare? You can also play this as a team game or a solo/solitaire experience, but we didn’t cover that because that’s not how war gaming fans will likely approach this!
