The Milk Ejection Reflex | Health e-Learning
The majority of milk in the mammary gland is held in the alveoli and requires active expulsion. Milk ejection fulfils this purpose and it is essential for milk removal and successful breastfeeding. Milk ejection occurs when a neurohormonal reflex, the MER, is stimulated.
