Two excerpts from Adam Curtis's 'Century Of The Self' a documentary about the use and abuse of psychoanalysis by state and business. The first excerpt is of psychoanalyst Anna Freud (Sigmund Freud's daughter) and the second of Bill Schlackman, a psychologist speaking about his time with Ernest Dichter, pioneering marketing researcher in 1950's America.
