Breaking News, Fires and Bears Oh My!
A bear ate my rundown, wildfires burned through the show I'd stacked, and criminals breaking windows broke news right outside the station. This composite shows you how quickly I can react to breaking news and showcase it on the air. The first segment is the longest because I want you to see all the breakouts I produced for our coverage of the Cache Fire (00:00 - 4:38). Keep watching to see the story of a bear taking up residence in a neighborhood that we covered with multiple live angles (4:39 - 6:26). When a car break-in happened next to the station, I ran out of the newsroom with my cell phone to capture footage of the damage and interview the victim, and then turned it in the lead of the newscast (6:27 - 8:21). Finally, watch our meteorologist join in to cover a fire that started burning halfway through the A block (8:22 - 9:42).
