There is an excellent story of James Stockdale, who was a US Prisoner of War in Vietnam which is popularised in Jim Collin’s book Good to Great.
The story is now referred to as “The Stockdale Paradox”.
The Stockdale Paradox has two ideas:
Retain faith that you will prevail in the end regardless of the difficulties… but you also must
Confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be
In times like these, we need to embrace the Stockdale Paradox.
The CV19 virus WILL affect all of us in some way.
Mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially.
It will affect ALL of us.
That is the reality.
The decision you need to make is how are you going to respond.
As a leader in your community, you have three choices:
1. Panic and live in fear and scarcity
2. Hope and pray that everything is going to be ok
3. Lead and take responsible actions to change the outcome of the future
Leaders lead. They create strategic decisions. They take decisive actions (and some are not comfortable).
And leaders hang out with other leaders. They don’t act alone. Because they know they are stronger together.
Struggling ALONE is a choice.
You don’t have to do this on your own. Reach out if you need support. I know my clients in NITRO are so happy they have each other through this period.
So be decisive. How you are positioned in 6 - 12 months depends on WHAT and HOW you ACT right now.
