What is a Provincial Attestation Letter in Canada?
The PAL or the Provincial Attestation Letter is a mandatory document for a Canada Study Permit. It is issued by the province in which you want to study.
Once you get a Letter of Acceptance from a Canadian DLI (Designated Learning Institution), accept the admission offer and pay the mandatory tuition fee.
You can request the university for a PAL. The university will then request the province for a Provincial Attestation Letter.
Once the province issues a PAL, you can download the letter from the university portal. It may take a week to get the Provincial Attestation Letter.
You do not need a Provincial Attestation Letter for Master’s or Doctoral degrees.
The introduction of PAL helps the Canadian provinces control the incoming international students. Limiting the intake of foreign students helps the provinces provide better infrastructure and a secure future in Canada.
