In this video, we will discuss when Will IRCC Stop Processing New LMIAs?

The Canadian government will stop processing new Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) through the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program in the Low-Wage streams. This change aims to restrict the misuse of the TFW program by employers hiring foreign workers for low-wage positions, despite the availability of Canadian workers.

Key Changes:

Shorter Work Duration: Temporary foreign workers can now work for only 1 year in Canada (previously, it was 2 years).

Unemployment-Based Restrictions: LMIAs will not be processed in areas with an unemployment rate of 6% or lower, with some exceptions.

Sector Exemptions: Primary agriculture, food processing, fish processing, construction, and healthcare sectors will not be affected by this measure.

Hiring Limitations: Canadian employers can only hire foreign workers up to 10% of their total workforce (exempt sectors are not affected).

These measures are being implemented to ensure that Canadian job opportunities are prioritized for local workers while preventing misuse of the TFW program.

If you’re planning to immigrate to Canada or are already in the country as a temporary foreign worker, make sure to stay updated on these crucial changes! Watch the full video for more details.
