First of all, thanks to Organized Chaos here on YouTube for the great video on how to fix this issue! 👊 Wish I could tag him. The link to the video is at the bottom of this description.
Now to the nitty gritty...
Not an expert by any means, got it done #AlwaysLearning ...Driver's seat wouldn't slide, one side - the right side as you're sitting in the seat - wouldn't budge, left side you could feel/see could move. Wednesday night, after looking could kind of tell where the problem probably was, but couldn't quite figure out the exact problem or the fix. YouTube search turned up the video for a 2015 RAV4, which has the same setup as the 2016, which his investigation gave me what to look for, which is when I saw the release bar had slipped out of position. It was cold at about 8-9pm whenever exactly I was out there, so called it a night and would fix it Thursday morning... Happy Thanksgiving! Back at it Thursday morning and tried to do it without removing the seat, but wasn't going to happen with my big hands. Undid the bolts holding it in, tried to just do it in the car with the seat turned sideways, gave up on that and took it to the garage. Pretty easy peasy from there... used a screw drived to leverage the release bar back on top of the release lever, then hammered a bit on the release bar to bend it back into proper position, did the same on the other side, then manually adjusted/slightly bent the front of the bar so both ends were in direct contact with the release lever as they were suppose to be. From there pretty easy returning the seat to the car and bolting it back in.
