Merry Christmas. The following was written before I had to remove the anime in question (kino no tabi) from the video entirely because even with editing, kadokawa would still block the video from even being viewed:
This was my second video after introduction video that was unfairly taken down against my will. I have edited it to hopefully clear any misunderstanding that fair use is fair use and that anime companies holding on to their IPs so tightly that they restrict non-profit driven fan content is a horrific overuse of power. I hate corporations and their intent to silence the very things that made their franchises popular as a way to restrict entry to increase profitability. I didn't upload the whole episode, the audio from the show is not included, and as an additional measure I have fully edited the scene in question. I support creators when I can, especially the author and the talent behind the show in question (which I can't and won't name to prevent conglomerate in question from filing yet another report, which is a shame because it is a very good show I enjoy a lot and would like to show to other people so they too can get invested and support the creators behind the show). I also understand cultural differences might be in play as well, but I strongly suspect this is just corporation being an overly controlling corporate bully. It's why I enjoy how YouTube approaches music copyright at least because they won't take things down after the mess the music industry put them through and now instead of video takedowns (which resulted in a total loss of over a thousand good videos back in 2008-2011), YouTube redirects the videos through copyright protection and just have the video count as a music stream for the artist. Why can't television, anime, and other media just do that? If we have the algorithms to detect it in the first place, why not put that algorithm to mutually beneficial good use? Beyond frustrating and I know my view might be a little rose-tinted and overly immature but I value the internet's organic contributions to a fanbase and a show much better than faceless corporate boogeymen who do nothing but harass those who aren't even getting 10% in the way of their profits, and may actually lead to increase profits if done smartly. Not to mention that they also treat the creators/team behind the shows with low wages and wave their creation around carelessly. But I digress, I really just wanted to make a video for others to enjoy with music and media I like or find artistic merit in.
