I got falsely copyright struck on soundcloud for a song I made by a song that doesn't even sound remotely similar to mine. My song also doesn't use any samples, especially not ones from the track that I am supposedly infringing on. Unless a tweaked drum kit I legally bought (that the infringed track doesn't even use because it has no drums which btw I use Dillon XO drum kit which is great and highly rec) and preset synths (that were all included in FL Studio 20) somehow violate copyright of that specific track (HIGHLY DOUBT) then I call absolute bull. I was trying to show my friend a work in progress track, but soundcloud apparently said nah and blocked my entire upload both privately and publically, so now I'm forced to upload to youtube as a last measure. If this gets copyright struck by that same exact track that sounds nothing like mine, I'll be livid and do everything in my power to get it resolved because this is ridiculous. The DMCA and copyright systems are an absolute joke, and its incredibly dumb that they can be used like this. This is the second time I've had issues with copyright on songs I own (the first was distrokid copyright striking my own videos with my own songs since I uploaded my music via distrokid to get it on spotify during my first album, which was a big mistake and I no longer upload to streaming services as a result). This is nauseating and beyond frustrating, which serves as further proof why fair use should be enshrined in law beyond just being a defense in courts, and the DMCA should get bent. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk vlog.
