1846 - 1920s History At Fort Edmonton Park, Alberta
Fort Edmonton Park, located in Edmonton, Alberta, is named after the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) fur trading post first established in 1795 near present day Edmonton, Alberta. Fort Edmonton is said to be the largest living history museum in Canada by its overall size, and holds both original and rebuilt historical structures of the early history of Edmonton. The site has many staff during the summer dressed as costumed historical interpreters.
The early history of Edmonton is represented by the Hudson's Bay Fort of 1846, followed by 1885 Street, 1905 Street, and 1920 Streets. Visitors can ride a steam train at the park's entrance which will take them back in time to the fort, which from there they proceed though the park.
