5. Consistent Environments between Dev/QA/Prod. Often organizations can get a little lazy and let these get out of sync with each other. This can end up creating a mess when it comes to gracefully promoting code and enabling automation for that promotion.
6. You want to chop things up into smaller logic sets, even if the body of code is part of a larger set, make it modular. This gives you some breaks in the code to modernize aspects of it without breaking it. I have an old video about this titled loose coupling ( • What is Tight Coupling? )
