Occupy Oakland General Strike: Seamus & Scott Olsen
OCCUPY OAKLAND GENERAL STRIKE, NOV. 2, 2011:
Irish Occupier Seamus shows us the damage from Oakland Police Department 's rubber bullets.
While trying to rescue Scott Olsen on October 25, 2011, in the Oakland Commune, Oscar Grant Plaza, Seamus and another man who dragged Olsen to safety were shot in the side and back. Seamus sustained a bruised kidney; he wasn't sure of the extent of the other man's injuries.
When I asked him (off camera) if being shot had made him scared of the police, he shrugged and said with a smile, 'I'm still here, aren't I, then?"
Later on on the night of this interview, the OPD riot squad again unleashed rubber bullets and teargas on the Oakland Commune.
