Instructions for flushing an AW55-50 transmission
In this video I'll show you how to flush the ATF of an Aisin-Warner AW55-50 (or AW55-51) transmission in a Volvo V70 2.4 D5 Sportswagon from 2002. This method also applies to e.g. Volvo V70, S80, XC70, XC90, and S60 (2000-2007). This is all done without lifting the car or using any special tools. The goal is to cycle all the old oil out of the system via the oil cooler hose in the radiator. This method thus replaces almost all of the oil in the car, which is good for the valve body.
Requirements:
20 L of Mannol 8218 (or other oil that fulfills the JWS 3309 classification)
an empty can of ~5 L
a canister for oil disposal
an oil pump connected to a battery or a charger, to get the old oil out of the transmission
2 x 2 L jugs
a funnel for inserting the new oil into the transmission
2 metres of tube with an inner diameter of 25 mm
