Anton Akhmerov: "Josephson versus Andreev: what can we do with only tunnel junction circuits?"
Anton Akhmerov is a theoretical condensed matter physicist working in the areas of graphene, topological insulators and Majorana bound states.
He did his PhD at Leiden University, in The Netherlands, in the group of Carlo Beenakker. He finished in 2011 and then went to Harvard University as a Golub postdoctoral fellow. Finally, he moved to Delft University of Technology in 2013, where he works as an associate professor.
In Delft, at the department of quantum nanoscience and QuTech, he leads the Quantum Tinkerer group together with Michael Wimmer.
Among his various research areas, he has also specialized in numerical simulations. To make the numerical calculations more accessible to the community, Anton and his colleagues have developed a software package named Kwant, which can be used to numerically solve a broad range of problems in mesoscopic quantum transport.
