Welcome everybody to another edition of the IFIMAC+ICMM joint seminars series on Condensed matter.
Today we have the privilege of having with us Professor Björn Trauzettel, from Würzburg University, in Germany. He will be delivering a talk on the so-called Topological Burning Glass effect.

Professor Trauzettel is a theoretical condensed matter physicist, and holds a Full Professor position in Würzburg University since 2011, where he was hired in 2007. Before that he did postdoctoral stays in the groups of Prof. Christoph Brüder in Basel, Prof. Carlo Beenakker in Leiden and Prof. Ines Safi in Orsay. He has done an impressive amount of influential theory work in a number of fields, particularly in graphene and topological materials. He has published more than 170 papers, including the first proposal to create spin qubits using graphene, the prediction of sub-Poissonian shot noise in graphene, descriptions of various topological anomalies in the Josephson effect, a series of important works on the physics of Majorana zero modes, and also on the effects of interactions in the edge states of topological matter. His work is internationally recognized and has earned him in particular the Gustav-Mie award from Freiburg university.
