Canary Release in Istio Ambient Mesh | IMESH

Watch the demo to see a canary deployment between two subsets of an application in Istio ambient mesh.
Canary deployment is a software release strategy where a portion of the live traffic is allowed to test a newer version of the software. It is rolled out for all end users gradually, while the IT teams constantly check its performance and quality.
Istio service mesh with sidecar Envoy proxy performs traffic management, which helps DevOps teams carry out canary releases. The all-new, sidecar-less Istio ambient mesh can also perform canary deployments.
Istio ambient mesh needs waypoint proxies to be deployed separately for the applications to perform canary releases. The demo shows two service subsets, where the current version (v1) gets 90% of the traffic, while the newer version (v2) gets 10%.
