THYROIDITIS - DeQuervains & Hashimotos - Symptoms | Pathophysiology | Differential diagnosis
De Quervains thyroiditis a.k.a subacute or granulomatous or gaint cell thyroiditis is a post infectious condition where the patient passes through phases of hyper hypo and euthyroidism.
It is a self limiting condition . The patient presents with painful neck enlargement and other prodromal symptoms like malaise and fever.
The condition requires only symptomatic management in the form of steroids or
nsaids .
