Ecce Mono: What Happened to the Infamous Botched Painting Ecce Homo?
The botched restoration of Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) by amateur artist Cecilia Giménez. It's now called Ecce Mono (Behold the Monkey). What was a botched restoration of a little known,, decaying fresco became an internet sensation in 2012 and a real tourist attraction for the small town of Borja, Spain and the Sanctuary of Mercy Church. Ecce Mono is now more popular than the original work. The original was painted by Elías García Martínez in 1930.
