Archaeology News #4 Moroccan Footprints, Polish Sacrificial Lake, Greek Temple
Fossilized prehistoric footprints dating back 90,000 years were discovered on a Moroccan Beach. The footprints show a group of 5 individuals, both children and adults, leaving up to 85 prints.
In Poland, metal detectorists uncovered bronze artifacts in a dry lake bed. Further investigation revealed over 500 artifacts and 33 human remains of varying ages in the ancient peat bog, indicating the lake was used for sacrifice around 2,500 years ago.
In Greece at the ancient city of Paestum, archaeologists discovered two new temples, the newest dating to around 2,400 years ago. It's not in great condition, but excavation revealed it was actually a newer temple built over an older, destroyed temple and likely repurposed the old temples stones for its replacement. There are plans to open the site to the public after excavation is complete.
