Archaeology News #6 Ancient Egg, Oldest Bead and Fraudulent Dinosaur Fossil
In this weeks archaeology news, archaeologists discover an ancient preserved 1700 year old chicken egg from Roman era Britain which still contained liquid yolk, an unusual finding and one of the oldest examples of its kind, beat out only by examples found in Egypt.
Around the La Prele Creek area amidst a prehistoric mammoth processing camp, the oldest prehistoric bead ever found in the Americas was discovered in Wyoming. It's around 5 centimeters long and is estimated to be 13,000 years old.
During a long-avoided analysis of a semi-famous dinosaur fossil called Tridentinosaurus antiquus was revealed to be a long-standing fraud. This forgery was originally discovered in the Italian alps in 1931 and has only been recently analyzed for the first time. It was made by carving the outline of the "reptile" in the rock and then painted over with bone charcoal paint to resemble fossilized tissue.
