www.corpinfo.com CorpInfo’s Jeremy Bendat and Timothy Fox discuss AWS Managed Services. Watch our video to learn more about how CorpInfo is making IT happen for our customers through AWS Managed Services.

The cloud has made IT managed services exciting again and has enabled us to bring a lot of value to organizations. In the past, managed services was all about the servers – how many servers are you going to manage and how much it would cost the customer to manage those servers each month. And if we were going to change that server footprint, then we would need to increase the cost. The cloud has changed everything with the concept of service over servers. You no longer have to care so much about the box that your IT environments lives on and can now focus on the actual service it provides.

If you are embracing the cloud and what Amazon does, you’re embracing that there are services beyond the server architecture, i.e. Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, and Kinesis. These services that AWS provides are dynamically changing how we manage our IT environments, helping us to shift our focus from managing servers to IT meeting the business need. From there you can architect your environment to be more resilient, deal with failure, and continue to enhance it from there.

Another thing the cloud brings is the concept that you only pay for what you need. You can turn it on and off. You would never do that in the “old days” – your servers were your pets, you gave them nice names and took care of them. Now if you don’t need something, you can just turn it off – it doesn’t matter because you can spin up a new environment whenever you need it. That is a big shift that has changed the mindset of managing IT, caring about service over a server.

Finally, it’s all about the business goals and using managed services to enhance your business. When you go down the concept of actually outsourcing something, you are handing over operations that aren’t necessarily critical to the business to someone who is an expert in them. In doing that, the business itself can focus on what it is actually good at and not have to worry about those particular pieces. That’s what we do as an AWS Managed Service partner – reduce the risks and concerns our customers have about ensuring that their IT services are running – making sure they are up 24x7, getting a good response, and making any necessary changes, so that they don’t have to worry about IT and can focus on growing their business.
