Food research for the Nation - 1980s
The 1980s was a period of great change for food research in Norwich and the UK.
Food was added to the government funding department's name, the Agriculture and Food Research Council. Three institutes in Norwich, Bristol and Reading were brought together as the Institute of Food Research (IFR), under the directorship of Prof Frank Curtis, who was awarded a CBE in 1985.
