This chapter is an introduction to Matt's Hierarchy of Opioid Recovery superstructure framework. The Hierarchy of Opioid Recovery model is based loosely on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and is based heavily on the bio/psychosocial/spiritual model of addiction and recovery. There are similarities and differences between this Hierarchy framework and the typical bio/psychosocial/spiritual model. The main thing that sets the Hierarchy of Opioid Recovery apart is the process which you'll learn in chapter 11 and finally Transcendence above the spiritual pillar at the top of this recovery pyramid.
