DNS or Doman Name System is a collection tables that translate URL hostnames to IP addresses.
DNS acts like a phone book looking up the name of the website we type in and translating it into an IP address.
When you attempt to access a website, YouTube for example, you send the URL youtube.com through your local area network to your registered DNS server. Your DNS server looks up that URL and if it cannot be found forwards it to another DNS server. Once the IP address is found it is sent back to your device where it is cached in memory and sends a
