Perfex is a proprietary Citizen technology that combines three features: JIS Class 1 Magnetic Resistance (5cm from a smartphone), Shock Detection, and Automatic Hand Correction, enabling more accurate timekeeping. The key to preventing misalignment is to quickly correct the hands. Discover technology exclusive to Citizen.
Prevents misalignment due to magnetic fields.
JIS Class 1 antimagnetic technology shields against magnetic fields generated by devices such as smartphones, computers, and televisions, which are a major cause of watch malfunctions. A JIS Class 1 antimagnetic watch is one that maintains performance in most cases even when brought up to 5cm from a magnetic field-emitting device (a level that can withstand a DC magnetic field of 4800 A/m).
Prevents misalignment due to shock.
The shock detection function quickly detects external shocks and controls the hands using an IC to instantly prevent misalignment. When the watch receives a shock, it detects the current generated by the rotor's rotation and instantly locks the rotor, preventing misalignment. The hands then move again. The time from detecting the shock to holding the rotor in place is only about 1/1000 of a second. By the time the shock or vibration is noticed, the hands are already locked, preventing misalignment and ensuring accurate timekeeping.

The automatic hand correction function corrects the position of the hands if they become misaligned. The hand position detection system's sensors periodically detect the hand positions. If there is any misalignment with the time counter inside the IC, the system measures the error and moves the hands to the correct position.

It eliminates the need for periodic battery changes and allows the watch to run for more than six months on a single full charge.
