We need to simultaneously achieve the energy transition and decouple resource use from well-being. This session of the World Circular Economy Forum 2024 will explore in depth the parallel policy actions required to do this: taking a holistic approach to manage the demand for transition materials in a sustainable manner and to call for responsible mining. We will bring in the views from different stakeholders on the approach and their role in this journey.

This session was recorded at the World Circular Economy Forum 2024 at SQUARE Brussels Convention Centre on 16 April 2024. The session was organised by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund.

Speakers include Djaheezah Subratty (Head of Consumption and Production Unit, United Nations Environment Programme UNEP), Janez Potočnik (Co-chair, International Resource Panel IRP), Paul Ekins (Professor of Resources and Environmental Policy, University College London), Bryony Clear Hill (Director, Innovation, International Council on Mining and Metals ICMM), Anthony Christian Spano Klein (Director, Circularity, Vale Base Metals) and Colette van der Ven (Founding Director, TULIP Consulting).
