In this video, Gareth Jones from PARIS Tech talks about “Version Control” for your spreadsheets using PowerExcel.
Let's say you are making up budgets or forecasts and you are just about finished, so you lock them down.
And then at the last minute, someone makes a change and you have to save and rename the file.. And thus is born the joke in the industry your budget file is called “Budget Final –version 2.” 😂
Of course, nobody knows what that file name means, so I'm going to show you how a handy Excel add-in can help you manage this process much better in PowerExcel.
Plus, this method centralizes all the different versions that you have and the varying assumptions that went into making those versions.
Having things centrally and locally is really powerful. It's so much more efficient and effective and it can really help you in your day-to-day accounting work. 🚀
