Construction of the nation's capital was immediately accelerated after the National Capital Project Bill was passed by the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. The IKN Law was ratified with a single hammer blow by House Speaker Puan Maharani after receiving unanimous approval from members of the House's 13th plenary session.
Almost all nine factions in the DPR approved the ratification of the IKN Bill into law, with the exception of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
