In this third video about Solar Energy for Motorhomes we show how to install the solar panel on the motorhome. What type of board connection is used, series or parallel, which charge controller to choose, PWM or MPPT, 12V or 24V batteries and which wire gauges to use according to the current used.
Solar panels, or photovoltaic modules, can be connected in series or in parallel. In series we will have the plate voltages added together while in parallel we will have the module currents added together.
Your choice of charge controller will depend on the power of your solar panels. There are PWM and MPPT controllers, with MPPT having better technology that ensures greater use of the energy produced by photovoltaic modules. We recommend that you use MPPT.
Stationary batteries can be connected to 12V or 24V, with each arrangement having its advantages and disadvantages.
The diameters, or gauges, of the wires must be selected according to the current that will pass through it and also the length of that wire. For this purpose, there are tables that provide these values. To consult them, you can pause the video or send us a message and we can provide it to you.
