Why do some leaders get respect from their team without ever demanding it?
A team's respect is built from the inside out, which is why the L.E.A.D.E.R. framework begins with confidence, how you perceive yourself, before gravitas, how others perceive you. You are paid for coordination. The next level pays for alignment. See where you stand: https://www.masteryinsights.com/start...

What is the L.E.A.D.E.R. framework?

The L.E.A.D.E.R. framework is a six part model for earning the respect of the people who report to you: lead with confidence and gravitas, empower with sincerity, armor yourself with posture, delegate your time wisely, exude presence, and respond with caring compassion. It has an order of operations. Confidence, which is how you perceive yourself, has to come before gravitas, which is how others perceive you, because the story you tell yourself about who you are is what you go on to demonstrate. Every step in the framework also moves you along the same continuous process, out of tactical activity and into higher level strategy, which is why it is as much about your own advancement as it is about your team's.

Key Concepts

Confidence and gravitas: Confidence is how you perceive yourself and gravitas is how others perceive you, and the two are not the same thing, which is why confidence has to come first.
Empower with sincerity: Giving your team the independence and the critical thinking to make decisions when you are not standing there, which is how a leader moves from delegating tasks to delegating success.
Posture: Posture is internal before it is external, made of the energy you bring to your team, the potential you see in them, and the role you intend to play in their future, not the position of your shoulders.
Exude presence: Presence is equanimity of mind and clarity of purpose, mission and values, which gives you the awareness to sit across from your direct reports and your senior executives alike and see yourself as their equal.
Caring compassion: Compassion is intense emotion, and intense emotion can be self serving, so caring compassion is the version that holds a fair exchange, where what matters to you and what matters to them both count.
