Most days on a bike for me are about living and embracing the present,
looking around, freewheeling every now and then...the past has gone
and the future is unknown, so living in the now is the only thing we
truly know. So I take the approach of finding enjoyment and happiness
in the present. Cycling for me offers that happiness, that mind space
to be completely removed from the distraction of screens. I don't have
computer screens on my bikes, numbers, stats and speed hold little
interest for me.
Most days I don't even know where I am heading until I am out there
with the wind on my face... that usually determines my route. To be
alone with just your inner monologue can be strangely therapeutic. I
want to feel the breeze, absorb the environment, hear the birds
singing and ride through sun-drenched trees and shards of light. An
early morning spin through the lanes of South East Kent sets me up
perfectly to spend an afternoon behind my MAC editing images for my
clients. It's all about that work/life balance.
