The Ruhr provides space 1959 | FILM TREASURES
In the summer of 1959, massive earthworks took place just outside the city of Hattingen to reroute the Ruhr River and create more space for the Ruhrstahl AG factory site. This massive intervention in the landscape was filmed by a camera crew and is documented in the film "The Ruhr Gives Space." After almost 65 years, the film is now being made publicly available again for the first time. The digital restoration was carried out by the LWL Media Center for Westphalia in cooperation with the thyssenkrupp Corporate Archive and the LWL Museum Henrichshütte, with financial support from the museum's support association. An introductory presentation is provided by Astrid Dörnemann from the thyssenkrupp Corporate Archive.
