Cor Kee (1900-1997) was one of the most famous Dutch organists of the 20th century. But besides being an organist, he was also a prolific composer and teacher. He wrote many organ works, mainly intended for church use, and also a number of works for wind orchestra (fanfare band) and for choir. Because he has composed both organ works and works for wind band, I thought it would be nice to combine both instruments and play them at the same time. This Psalm 91 comes from his collection "Psalms for Organ" from the 1930s and 1940s. They were reissued a few years ago by Boeijenga Music Publications.
I play this piece on the organ in the old Stefanus Church, built in the13th century, in Noorddijk, Groningen, Netherlands, made by Van Oeckelen (1864) and my baritone horn.
