What do you think, if both the MM number and the duration of a piece are given, is that evidence for whether or not the single beat or double beat is applied? I think so. There are, of course, always rigid and dogmatic double beaters who claim that one second is actually two seconds, and as a result one minute is actually two minutes. But if you think through it consistently, one hour is actually two hours, one day is actually two days and one year is actually two years. Everyone understands, that is nonsense. So if a composer notes with a piece that that piece lasts 2 minutes and 15 seconds, that is the duration of the watch or the clock. We are all dealing with that time. It would be strange if a worker is paid for one hour and actually has to work for two hours. Or, even more crazy, when I say I am 50 years old, but in reality I am 100! Since the Middle Ages, our time has been displayed in real seconds, minutes, hours and years. This also applies to the duration of pieces of music. If a composer says: this piece lasts exactly 4 minutes, then that is the same duration as the watch or clock indicates. The most staunch and dogmatic double beater, like Wim Winters, his followers and their spiritual father Lorenz Gadient insist that in music one second lasts two seconds, and one minute lasts two minutes. That way they can defend their double beat theory. They even say they have proof for that .....
