grblHAL backslash compensation testing with Sieg SX2 mini mill cnc conversion
I'm working on a CNC semi-conversion for my Sieg SX2 mini mill, mostly because I already have most of the parts so it'll be cheaper and (hopefully) more functional than buying a cheap 3 axis DRO kit.
First working section was the direct-coupled X-axis, so I did some quick testing of grblHAL's backlash compensation. It's very easy to set up. I had around 0.4mm of backlash, and with some quick testing it seems considerably better than 0.1mm precision/repeatability. That's enough to keep the project moving along!
