Hello

I am going to explain to you how to fix slow charging issue on Smartphones. My LG G4 usually charges in about 105 minutes with the standard adaptor and cable that came in the box

After 10 months I noticed, it use to take 150 minutes. Then it went on to 200 minutes which was bad and then 240 minutes and so on.

I first thought it was the battery and then maybe the motherboard. But when I went to the LG service center. The issue was the charging cable. This happened twice and both times it was the charging cable. The second cable that I bought on the last date of the phone warranty (which is 1 year) since warranty on accessories is only six months also went bad in 2 months. The second cable charging time went as bad as 8 hours for a full charge. And the LG Service center representatives said the charging cable was fine but it was not, as I asked them to show the voltages in front of me. Since accessories have six months warranty, I got a replacement cable which fixed the issue for the second cable. Now I am with the third cable

Now the problem is to check the cable. So the service center's usually have a hardware instrument which can connect to the adaptor and the charging cable. When they connect the adaptor, charging cable, phone and their voltage checking instrument (comes with a service kit only available to service centers) , it shows the voltage of the adaptor (for LG G4 adaptor it is around 5.0 volts), the voltage of the current passing to the phone (which is 1.3 amps for the charging cable). The LG G4 has quick charging.

So depending on your smartphone check the following

1. Check what is the standard time of charging for your phone on various websites (including quick charge) and the official website
2. Check if there is a huge deviation in charging time since you first bought the phone as you usually know the time it takes to charge
3. To check Battery health - Download CPU-z for Android
4. To check adaptor, the cable and the phone you need to go to the service center. And mostly it would be the charging cable. You can also go to your local store and see if buying a similar charging cable fixes the issue to avoid travelling to your smartphone service center if it is too far away.

Remember that sometimes the charging cable is bad but the service center representatives might tell you otherwise. So ask them to show you the voltage in front of you and if they don't escalate. If that does not work ask them for another charging cable for testing. The cable must be the same type which came in the box

And also remember that the charging cable should be sealed in your branded company packaging if you buy a new one.

After all these steps you would know the cause. 90 % of the cases is because of the charging cable (as per the LG service centers)

You can also download Battery guru from Asante mobiles for Android. It saves your battery from unnecessary discharge from apps. Be sure to understand how to use it wisely. Do not subdue the critical apps.
