08/28/2024 Alvord, TX - 4 Killed, 9 more injured in roll over with ejection
Texas DPS PIO Sgt Jose De La Cerda. He tells us that At 8am Wednesday morning Texas DPS and Wise county 911 responded to North bound 287 in Alvord for a single vehicle roll over accident with ejection. When first arrived they found 14 people with injuries. 3 people where declared deceased on scene. 3 of the surviving victims where taking to surrounding hospitals via air medical, 8 others where transported via ambulance to area hospitals after multiple people where ejected from the vehicle. Out of 14 people, only 1 person was wearing a seat belt and they walked away with only minot injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the van left the road way and got onto the center median where they over corrected, slide across the roadway and rolled multiple timesn ultimately ended up in the grass between the service road and the main lanes of North bound 287. Sgt De La Cruz did tell us the van was traveling from Florida but could not tell us where they where going or if the people in the van where working for any company or who owned the van.
At 4:15pm, Sgt De La Cerda advised a 4th person died at a hospital.
