semi crashes into exit wall, explodes, driver able to escape. FWPD SGT killed during investigation
At 12:56am Sunday Fort Worth responded to the 4100 block of Mitchell Blvd for a possible accident. When crews arrived they found a single vehicle accident with a SUV partially wrapped around a light pole. Crews found a single male occupant pinned in the driver seat of the vehicle. Crews immediately began extrication which included removing the entire roof, both driver side doors and using squad 2 to slowly lower the SUV back on its wheels after the driver was stabilized inside the vehicle. After about an hour of working the male was finally extricated and taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. Alcohol and speed are believed to be the cause of the crash.
