Art as a Voice: OctoEyes at SJIMA
Ron L Smith, creating art as OctoEyes, gives an artist talk in the atrium of SJIMA on May 04, 2024. OctoEyes' presentation will take you on a journey to the forest floor through his exhibition 'Reverie: Myxogastria' (slime mold) - tiny fruiting bodies that inspired his sculptures that incorporate light and sound exploring a microcosmic world he created in the museum atrium. As you explore, the works react to your presence as a living creature might and you become part of the artwork. The video includes the many processes the artist used in creating his sculptures as well as the influence of the 'Burning Man' spectacle upon his art.
