Explore the highlights from our recent Bioeconomy Skills Centre launch event and see how we’re gearing up to train the next generation of biotech professionals and advance the region's bioeconomy. This new facility is a natural progression of our efforts to scale our capacity-building initiatives and, as our CEO Dheepak Maharajh reflects, will enable us to bridge the skills gap between the global North and global South.
We recently welcomed our first cohort of the Introduction to Biotechnology and Bioprocessing, which will prioritise vaccine manufacturing skills, further enhancing Africa's capabilities in this vital area. This cohort is part of an ongoing partnership with GIZ South Africa in support of their project Vaccines for Africa: Roll-out and production in South Africa (SAVax), which ensures access to vaccines for all persons living in South Africa and strengthens local vaccine manufacturing and distribution.
