I'm a huge fan of both Bruce Springsteen and They Might Be Giants and always found it very interesting that both artists seem to share horn players over the years, including all three members of the current TMBG horn section (Mark Pender, Stan Harrison, and Dan Levine). Most notably would have to be Curt Ramm, who has logged in hundreds of shows for both Bruce and TMBG. Simon Mayo brought Curt up with Bruce during an interview, mentioning that his son (who is a big fan of TMBG) had noticed Curt in Bruce's band. One thing is certain, both Bruce and TMBG demand highly skilled musicians in their bands due to the unpredictable nature of their live shows. Curt (along with Mark, Stan and Dan) have greatly added to the live performances of both Bruce and TMBG. Check out my channel for different live performances of 'Istanbul (Not Constantinople)' where Curt and Mark each put their own stamp on the intricate trumpet solos which are occasionally part of the TMBG live arrangement of the song. For Bruce, I was very close to the stage in Albany, NY in 2014 when Curt played a fantastic trumpet solo on a cover of the Bee Gee's 'Stayin' Alive' which brought the house down. What makes these guys even better beyond the fact that they are incredible musicians is that they are all quite friendly in person as well. Enjoy!
