241009 New Testament Pt2
Pastor Scott Craig continues with Part 2 of the New Testament introduction. A theme throughout the Bible, and especially in the New Testament, is the Lamb and the Shepherd. A Pastor, or anyone in a Christian cleric position, is a shepherd. Note, that every Christian can be a shepherd to another. As Paul said, in 1 Thessalonians 5:10-12 and the unconfirmed author in Hebrews 10:24-26 wrote, we are to encourage one another {in the ways of Jesus our example}.
Jesus WAS the perfect Lamb AND the perfect shepherd. Not only was His heart toward His Jewish bloodline, but it was toward US the Gentiles not of Jewish blood. Because He wanted to reach the entirety of humanity. The sacrificial system of "salvation" is over. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. The New Testament is a record of about 50 days of Jesus's ministry. Remember, John said " But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." John 21:25 NRSV
